Shanghai Sunsets

On our last evening in Shanghai we took a sunset cruise.  This city has some of the most creative and trendsetting architecture in the world. They use shape, lights, and technology to create a unique and special skyline. 

Connecting Factors

I was walking in our neighborhood in Shanghai and ran across this group of fellas in a heated game. Basketball is a global sport. Working for an NBA team, I knew that... in theory. But to see it first hand...everywhere we went people were playing, wearing Rockets gear, and Nike. Over 300,000,000

(3 hunnit million, lol)  people in China  play, watch, or consume basketball in some shapem form or fashion.

Each of the Texas Southern University students had a Chinese student pen-pal they corresponded with via email and skype.  This was a brief meet-up where they were finally able to meet face to face.

Shanghai has aestheically pleasing elements, but is not wasteful.  These are light elements placed under the bridge of a freeway.  They come on at dusk and turn off at 11pm. When buildings/rooms are not in use the electricity is turned off.  Your room key turns on the electricity. When you leave, it is shut off.  I was completely feeling their green/energy conscious lifestyles. Something we can definitely utilize here in the U.S.

China 2010

Several of my China photos have already been published, but these are some of the ones I kept private. Every where we went, people would take pictures of us.  The kids were especially curious and every one was friendly. Eye-opening to be immersed in a completely different culture.  I'm grateful for the experience of seeing another part of the world.

The Forbidden City

He was so sweet!  Came up to me and asked me to practice English with him. We chatted for a while.  The greatest lesson learned is that humanity has no language barrier.

Carib Fest 2010

I have friends from all across the world, but for some reason summer 2010 was all about the spirit of the Caribbean! The food, the people, the culture.  Yummy. It also made me think.  As Americans, we share a hemisphere and the 15 or so islands aren't far away. Yet, we never hear anything about their history, politics,  current events or economic concerns.  This sent me on a journey to ask questions, research and discover for myself.
